Our Story
We are Violet Photography, a team of 2 passionate photographers inspired by true love stories.
Our main photographer, Chan Hee Kim, is a multi-award-winning professional photographer from South Korea with rich experiences in various fields of photography.
Chan moved to South Africa in 2021 and met the love of her life, Ian, a fellow creative involved in multiple areas of the media and entertainment industry.
At the start of 2022, inspired by our own love story, we created Violet Photography with the goal of capturing the purest and most beautiful moments between couples.

Hi I'm Chan! I'm a professional photographer born and raised in South Korea and now living in sunny South Africa! I'm very excited to start a new chapter of my life and continue to grow my career in this vibrant and beautiful country.
My Honors/Awards include:

Ian van der merwe
Assistant Photographer
Hi I'm Ian! I was born and raised in Pretoria and I've been working in and around the media industry for the past 7 years. Although I've primarily been working as a music producer/sound-engineer, I've always had a growing passion for all things media. From taking photos to editing videos to making music, I love doing it all! I'm looking forward to expand my skillset and knowledge in this new venture with my partner/coach/better-half.
